Hey everyone so today I thought I would share with you something that happened to me about seven months ago at a hair salon that I was a regular at. I want to make a quick disclaimer I understand hair dye doesn't always take the way you want it to and that is not the hairdressers fault its how she handled the situation was what I was up set with. Also I understand when you take images in of someones hair the hairdresser is not going to be able to make it exactly like the picture as everyone's hair is different.
So I had been going to this hairdresser for a while and was very happy with the service I find it hard to find a hairdresser where I am not allergic to the hair dye. So when I found this one that had a good reputation I was very happy. The first time I went there I went from red/brown to blonde and the results where amazing! Just to mention this hairdresser is a little pricey for my area.
I had my roots dyed every 6-7 weeks for about 8 months and as I'm a student that was starting to amount up so I asked my hairdresser can we do a Ombré as I'm finding it hard to keep up with my roots.
I was actually really scared to ask her this because I don't like to be a nuisance even when I'm paying someone to do my hair. She didn't seem to have a problem with it I showed her the images what I wanted it to look like and she was like 'yeah no problem it will be a little more expensive as it will take longer and it wont be exactly like the image maybe a little darker' and I said no problem in the long run this would save me money and my hair could look good. (or so I thought)
So here is a link to the images that I showed her.
The day of the hair appointment and I was nervous to say the least Ombré hair styles are notorious for going bad. So I'm sitting in the seat for hours which is to be expected at the hairdressers and finally its time for it to be washed off and dried.
As shes drying it I am starting to notice that my hair is looking very dull like silvery/grey tint and my heart sank this was not a Ombré this wasn't anything remotely like the image.
So once fully dry I look at her and she notices my 'oh my god wtf have you done to my hair face'. She tries telling me it's best hair shes done all year it's going straight on her FB and the companies Instagram she loves it so much and the owner who never speaks to me was like 'oh yeah your hair looks amazing' and the whole time I'm screaming on the inside. Anyone with crippling social anxiety you know confrontation is not something we like or handle well so I said nothing and paid I know I should have said something before I paid but like I said my anxiety is severe and makes a lot of situations uncomfortable for me.
So like I said before I have anxiety so I did what any other brave person did I called my mom and asked that she calls and comes with me to the hairdresser. Once at the hairdressers the hair stylist did not look happy to see me at all when I sat down I was not made welcome she starts running her fingers though my hair pulling faces saying she liked my hair and didn't see what my problem was. She was being very passive aggressive.
At this point my mother comes over and tells the lady my hair is horrid and she wants something done with my hair. The hair stylist refused to re-dye it she put a golden toner on it when she was doing this she was not at all like herself she was slapping this stuff all over like 'how dare you come back and ask me to fix your hair' she was normally very chatty she was silent and giving me evils. The work placement girls that was there was a lot nicer to me they was the ones who washed it off and while drying my hair the hair stylist who originally dyed my hair pulled a look and said to the work placement girl just blast it basically telling her to hurry up and not to spend anymore time with me.
All in all I will never go there again I was made very unwelcome when I went back and surprise surprise the image never went on the companies Instagram not important but when someone tells you its the best hair they have done all year you would expect them to display that work. I did tell her she could put it up but obviously she was also unhappy with how the 'Ombré' had turned out.
After many many washes and fixing it myself I have got it to a point which I am happy with even though it's a little brassy I can handle that and I think I'm going to swerve hairdressers for a while.
